In India, Buttermilk is also called Chaas. Buttermilk is a very delicious and healthy drink that makes you feel refreshing. This drink is so easy to make and a person can make it easily who does not know even the basic fundamentals of Cooking.

It improves the digestive system and helps in maintaining body weight. You do not need any gas stove or oven for the preparation of this beverage, just need two or three ingredients to make it.

What is Buttermilk?

Buttermilk is creamy, slightly tangy flavour to both and savory recipes. It is the liquid leftover part After we churn the cream that is separated from the milk, the cream gets divided into two things. The first part is called butter and the second part is called buttermilk. It has some chunks of butter also which floats on the surface of buttermilk.

This is also used for different recipes and beauty purposes. It works as a shampoo for hairs, gives a very smooth shining texture to hairs. People use it as fertilizer for their plants in the Garden. How to make Homemade Buttermilk easily?

Buttermilk can buy from grocery stores easily but if a person wants a healthy drink then it should not get from a store outside. People will wonder how little time is required for preparation.

  • It can make from milk cream also. If you do not have enough milk cream then there is one more option to make it. Just take some yogurt and add some water, churn it well so water and yogurt mix well.
  • Another option is to Take some Milk and Lemon Juice or Vinegar. Next, take 1 Cup of milk and add 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice or Vinegar, mix it well, keep it for rest about 10 mins and stir it properly. Now It is ready to serve.

  • 2 cups plain curd
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • A small bunch of coriander leaves
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 1 tsp black salt
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds roasted

How to make Masala Buttermilk?

Step 1: Add all the ingredients together in a Bowl or in a large pot.

Step 2: Blend the mixture well with the help of hand Blender or Hand Churner .

Step 3: Put in a large pot, add the mixture and pour in 2 cups of chilled water. Mix it well so there are no lumps.

Step 4: Refrigerate till it’s ready to be served. However, give the chaas (Buttermilk) at least 20 minutes to set.

Step 5: You can sprinkle some chaat masala and roasted cumin seeds on top before serving, and garnish with a sprig of coriander leaves as well.

Pudina Chaas

  • 1 litre plain buttermilk
  • Two bunches of Mint Leaves coarsely chopped
  • 1 bunch of coriander leaves
  • 1/2 inch Ginger, crushed
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds roasted
  • Salt to taste

How to make Pudina Buttermilk (Chaas)?

Step 1: Take the mint and coriander leaves and hand crush it in a big jar. Add the buttermilk and blend the mix gently.

Step 2: Add the remaining ingredients and mix it well with one of those old-school butter churners.

Step 3: Keep it in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes or so, and serve.

Step 4: You can put some Pudina leave on top before serving.

Spiced Majjige

  • 2 cups curd
  • 5-6 cups chilled water
  • A big pinch of asafetida (Hing)
  • 2 inch ginger, crushed
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • 4 sprigs of curry leaves
  • 2-3 small green chillies, chopped
  • Salt to taste

How to make Spiced Majjige?

Step 1: Taste a big jar add salt, black pepper and asafetida to the curd, and pour in the water. Blend the ingredients well.

Step 2: In a separate bowl, take the spoon to crush the green chillies and curry leaves.

Step 3: Pound the ginger in a mortar and pestle (crusher). You can use the mortar and pestle to pound all the ingredients together as well.

Step 4: Add the spices to the buttermilk, mix it well with a hand blender and refrigerate it for about 15-20 minutes. This not only chills the drink, but also enables the majjige to absorb the flavours of the spices.

Step 5: Serve it with a sprinkling of chaat masala on top, or a couple of curry leaves.
